2018 Recap

Wow! What a year it has been.

2018 was such an amazing experience for Brooke Kristine Photography.  There was so much growth involved, learning, relationships built, and amazing weddings captured.  I told myself at the end of 2017 that 2018 was going to be MY year to really kick things into gear. And that’s exactly what i did.

Here are some highlights from the best year yet:

  1. I second shot a lot and i was an associate photographer.  Second shooting is a wonderful way to really bloom in your work.  You get to meet new people, you work with someone who has the same passion as you.  You LEARN so much. At least I know i do. I also think it’s tons of fun and rewarding.  During some down time in my own business, i get to still have a wedding experience and keep shooting.  I love booking my own couples and shooting my own weddings, but on weekends where i am free, it’s nice to still have something to capture.  Plus I got to shoot in tons of new places! Chicago, Wheaton, Bloomington and much more.
  2. I went to Arizona for the first time EVER.  I attended the Showit United conference for photographers. (To read more about my experience visit this blog post HERE).  Overall it was such an amazing time.   Not only did I have 4 days of photography education but I got to travel and spend time with my sister, visited a friend, and see the desert.  It was definitely a trip for the books! Something i will cherish forever.

Note: I am not a videographer.  My focus was more on learning and taking photos but i wanted to create a video of my experience 🙂

  3. I hosted my own styled shoot with a vision I have been dying to create.  I love having the opportunity to come together with other vendors in the wedding field and work on something beautiful.  I had such an amazing time capturing a gorgeous real-life married couple.  They even drove quite a few hours to be my models and I am beyond grateful.

(Post on this styled shoot coming soon)
  4. I had some amazing and beautiful weddings that I booked and here are some of my favorites (I love all of my couples, and each wedding was stunning but as a photographer I like to review my portfolio and note my accomplishments)

Shelbi and Alex were such a sweet couple and I love the fall colors.  They are so in love and this photo really shows their true happiness.  I love the smile, the kiss, the background. Everything turned out great.

I just LOVE smoke bomb photos! I have been wanting to do some and 2018 was my first time taking photos with them.  I plan to use them a LOT more in 2019.

I am obsessed with Brooke and Davids Boho style wedding! Everything from the colors, the personal touches, the flower crown and more.  It was so beautiful and unique! Oh and we got featured on JJS House instagram. Say what??!

They have such stunning dresses! Visit their website HERE

I finally got to take some photos in the rain using the clear “bubble” umbrellas! They add character, a cute prop for some photos and keep you from getting too wet. See! I got your back.  I provide these if you ever want to use them in a session. <3

From being featured in wedding magazines, working with other artists in the wedding field, connecting with couples, capturing special events and visiting new places.  2018 was amazing beyond words.  I have big expectations for 2019 and i’m beyond excited for everything to come.

Thank you everyone who help make this year so special. I couldn’t do it without you. xoxo
